Al-Farabi Kazakh National University celebrated its 90th anniversary – a landmark event in the history of Kazakhstani science and education. At the ceremonial event, the State Counselor of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Karin, read out a congratulatory message on behalf of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
In his congratulatory address, the President
emphasized that Al-Farabi KazNU is a flagship of Kazakhstani education, a
leader in international rankings among Central Asian universities, and a symbol
of excellence in the academic and educational spheres. The Head of State
highlighted the significant contributions of the university’s graduates to the
country’s development, reaffirming that the institution remains a key pillar of
national education.
January 15, 1934 was opened a higher
educational institution and now we congratulate the staff of the university on
the 90th anniversary of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.
Graduates of the university for 90 years have been continuously engaged in
training professionals needed for all sectors of the country. Thanks to the
90-year experience of the University, not only the most independent HEI of
Kazakhstan takes its place at the world level, but also takes 230 th place in
the world rating systemKazNU continues to lead the Global Hub
of the United Nations Academic Impact Program (UNAI), which promotes the
implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and discloses the
interconnection between education and sustainable development.
During the period of nine decades, KazNU students had
the opportunity to attend lectures read by Kazakh prominent figures, including
writer Mukhtar Auezov, geologist Kanysh Satpayev, or archeologist Alkey
Margulan. Today, the university’s research activities include participation of
3,354 professors.
The QS World Ranking includes only
two universities from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries –
Kazakhstan’s KazNU and Russia’s Lomonosov Moscow State University, reads the
ministry’s statement. KazNU is also among the top 30 universities in Asia,
according to the QS Asia University Rankings.
